Y9 Canoeing - Canal Trip
Following your son’s request for outdoor education this year, I am pleased to invite him on to one of our canoeing trips, which will take place this academic year.
Please see your son’s allocated date on the text message you received this link on.
We will be based on the canal, paddling into Birmingham City Centre. Students will be putting into practice the skills they learnt on a paddling journey. Students will also be working towards their KNBS Canoeing award.
Students should meet me by the Outdoor Education Room at 8.50am after assembly. The Outdoor Education room is D 1.6, by the side of the dining room. We will return to school at 3pm. Students are to attend school in full uniform, there will be time to get changed before the activity. Students will be transported in the school mini bus.
Students will be given full wet suits, boots, wind proofs and buoyancy aids. Please ensure your son has swimming shorts, a towel, packed lunch and drink. The weather may still be cold this time of year, so bring a few extra layers, gloves and a hat are advisable.
In order for your son to take part in this activity, we will need the online medical consent form (link below) submitted before his allocated date.
To maintain this wonderful opportunity for our students, it is essential we have contributions from families. A contribution of £10 per student (£5 for students in receipt of pupil premium funding) goes towards equipment hires costs, maintenance of equipment and repairs for all activities.
Contributions are to be made via ParentPay to the ‘Outdoor Adventure Programme’ payment item.
If your son is unable to take this opportunity, then please let me know so we can reallocate the space.
Thanks for your support.
Mr B Julian
Head of Outdoor Education
