Transition Timetable

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we may not be able to follow our usual transition timetable, but this will give you a flavour of what to expect. However, if things change, we will update this page with the latest information.

This usually happens between March and July.

The Year 7 Transition Team will visit students in their primary schools to meet them and help prepare them for their move to our school. They will also discuss the needs of each student with their primary teachers. Last year, we met Year 6 students ‘remotely’ by holding virtual meetings with groups from our different feeder schools. Hopefully, this year we will be able to visit you all in person, but if that is not possible, we know there are some great virtual alternatives.

This usually happens during the summer term. We have yet to confirm how this will take place this year. Last year, we met with individual students and their parents in the summer term and we hope to be able to do the same this year.

This is an opportunity to meet the team, learn about the support available and to ask any questions about inclusion at King’s Norton Boys’ School. Please be aware that this is only for the parents of children with an EHCP and parents/carers of children on the SEND register. Please speak to your primary school’s SENCO if you are unsure about this.

This usually takes place on the first Wednesday in July, but it may be a little different this year.

This is a day where all new Year 7 students can come in and experience what life at King’s Norton Boys’ School is like. Students will spend time with other new students and will experience a range of lessons and activities to help them feel prepared and excited for their move up to secondary school. We hope to be able to offer a range of on-site transition activities at King’s Norton Boys’ School on this day, but may have to adapt our plans due to COVID-19. We will share more details of our plans when we know what we are able to offer.

Parents/carers would usually receive presentations from the Head Teacher, Mr Clayton and the Year 7 Team. If a face-to-face event is not possible because of COVID-19, we will offer a virtual session to you as well as some form of face-to-face event. More details to follow when we know what we are able to offer.
