Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we may not be able to follow our usual transition timetable, but this will give you a flavour of what to expect. However, if things change, we will update this page with the latest information.
WELCOME PACKS SENT TO PARENTS AND CARERS: Before Easter
You should have received a Welcome Pack from the school with further information regarding admissions and the transition process. Please contact the school if you have not received this.
TRANSITION TEAM VISITS TO STUDENTS’ PRIMARY SCHOOLS: TBC
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing situation, we are unlikely to be able to go in and visit every student in their primary school this year. Don’t worry though, we are still in close contact with our feeder schools and they are providing us with any important information we need to be aware of about the students due to join us in September.
VISITS FOR PARENTS AND CARERS OF STUDENTS WITH SEND: TBC
This usually happens during the summer term. Last year, we met with individual students and their parents in the summer term and we are planning to do the same this year. Once we have details from primary schools, we will be in touch to arrange your visit.
This is an opportunity to meet the team, learn about the support available and to ask any questions about inclusion at King’s Norton Boys’ School. Please be aware that this is only for the parents/carers and children with an EHCP and those on the SEND register. Please speak to your primary school’s SENCO if you are unsure about this.
Following the announcement last week about Year 6 transition days across the city being cancelled, we would like to reassure you that we still have plenty in the pipeline to help make your son’s move to secondary school a smooth one, and that we will remain in regular contact with you in the coming weeks to ensure that your son is ready for September. Our Year 6 transition last year was conducted during the full lockdown and was nevertheless a hugely successful one, so we know that this year’s will be even more so.
TRANSITION EVENING FOR PARENTS/CARERS: Wednesday 7th July
Parents/carers would usually receive presentations from the Head Teacher, Mr Clayton, and the Year 7 Team. However, a face-to-face event is not possible this year. We will be offering a virtual, interactive session to provide you with further information. You will be sent an update about this virtual event soon.
