Duke of Edinburgh Award – Silver
Dear Parent,
Every year the school offers students the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. The award offers young people the chance to develop individual, team and social skills. It also gives the participant a chance to make a difference in their community. As such, it is highly regarded by colleges, universities and employers.
The silver award revolves around four key areas: physical recreation, skill, volunteering and expeditions. More information about the award can be found on the D of E website www.dofe.org.
Students need to have completed their bronze DofE award before they can enrol on their silver award.
The cost for the whole Silver package is £80 (PP student funding £40). This includes registration with the official body, a D of E information pack, a discount card for outdoor clothing shops, expedition training, expedition resources & equipment, a two-day practise expedition and a three-day assessed expedition.
