Dear Parent/Carer,

At King’s Norton Boys’ School, it is a key asset to enable all of our students to access various forms of outdoor activities. The benefit that students gain from the social and leisure pursuits on our outdoor education courses is long-lasting and unique to the school.

At King’s Norton Boys’ School, we are very proud to be able to offer all students the opportunity to take part in the outdoor adventure programme consisting of a variety of activities during their academic year from September.

There will be an opportunity for all students to take part in a climbing session on ‘The Rock’, our privately-owned climbing tower based at the school. This will be a chance for students to challenge themselves in a different environment to help develop their confidence, team work and reliance. All students will give climbing and belaying a go, supporting their fellow students and setting personal challenges along the way. It’s not a competition, it’s all about getting outside the classroom, learning in the great outdoors in a fun safe environment.

Please see your son’s allocated date and time on the text message you had received with this link on.

The session will be for two hours starting at your allocated time, meeting at the outdoor education store room D 1.6, next to the canteen.

Students will be provided with all safety gear and full instruction. Please remember to bring your school PE kit and a tight-fitting pair of trainers. It can be cold outside, please bring a warm coat and tracksuit bottoms. There will be time before their session to change.

To maintain this wonderful opportunity for our students, it is essential we have contributions from families. Parental contributions help support the running and upkeep of the outdoor adventure programme as well as providing outdoor learning opportunities across the curriculum for all students.

Contributions are to be made via ParentPay to the ‘Parental Contributions’ payment item.

In order for your son to take part in this activity we will need the online medical consent form (linked below) filled in and submitted before their allocated dates.

If your son is unsure about taking part, please let me know. We want to encourage all students to get involved in any way they can. If they really do not want to climb, they can help assist on the ground and still be part of the team.

Thanks for your support.

Yours sincerely

Mr B Julian
