Following your son’s request for Outdoor Education this year, I am pleased to invite him onto a dinghy sailing session, which will take place this academic year.
Please see your son’s allocated date on the text message you received this link on.
We shall be sailing at Bartley Sailing Club, the home for King’s Norton Boys’ water activities. Students will learn the basics of how to control the boat in different conditions or develop existing sailing skills to a good standard. Students will also have the chance to work towards the KNBS outdoor adventure programme awards on our fleet of Topper racing dinghies.
Students should meet me by the Outdoor Education Room at 8.50am after assembly. The Outdoor Education room is D 1.6, by the side of the dining room. We will return to school at 3pm. Students should come to school in uniform. Students will be transported in the school mini bus.
Students will be given full wet suits, boots, wind proofs and buoyancy aids. Please send your son with swimming shorts, towel, packed lunch and a drink. Students will be expected to shower in the changing rooms at Bartley Reservoir following their sailing lesson.
In order for your son to take part in this activity, we will need the online medical consent form (link below) submitted before his allocated date.
To maintain this wonderful opportunity for our students, it is essential we have contributions from families. A contribution of £10 per student (£5 for students in receipt of pupil premium funding) goes towards equipment hires costs, maintenance of equipment and repairs for all activities.
Contributions are to be made via ParentPay to the ‘Outdoor Adventure Programme - Dinghy Sailing’ payment item.
If your son is unable to take this opportunity, then please let me know so we can reallocate the space.
Thanks for your support.
Mr B Julian
Head of Outdoor Education
