Bikeability Cycle Training
Bikeability is the national cycle training programme supported and funded by the Department for Transport. The course builds the skills and confidence for students to ride their bikes in a safe controlled manor and transitioning from the pavement to the road. Bikeability can not only make students better cyclists but can help with general confidence and independent thinking.
Level 1 – School Grounds
Takes place off the road and teaches students how to control their bikes before moving onto the road in Level 2.
Level 2 – Local roads
This gives students on-road experience in residential traffic to help them prepare to make short journeys by bicycle.
Level 3 – Busy roads and junctions
Teaches students the skills to ride effectively on more complex roads and in further challenging traffic situations.
Students are encouraged to use their own helmet and bike as this is what they cycle with daily but the school bikes and safety equipment are available for students to use if needed.
These courses are for students that can already ride a bike, if this isn’t the case and they would like to learn please selected the “Learn to Ride” option on the interest form.
Courses will be delivered within the school day and are free of charge.
If you would like your son to take part in this activity, then please complete and submit the interest form by Friday 25th September.
Once all interest forms have been collected, dates and sessions will then be allocated and further details sent out during the year.
